Pierce & Maren… the next generation of friends

Maren & Pierce are going to be the best of friends! We are so close with The Dukes, and have been a part of their lives when we were all growing up. It is nice to see the next generation of Jaggears/Dukes growing up together. Pierce is learning to share with Maren and was sharing his new Toy Story toys. We have been running a few times a week with The Dukes, so Pierce will now ask to go running and see Maren. I think Pierce is going to grow up loving her like his own sister.

Pierce wanted to feed Maren her dinner! So sweet.

Hanging with Big Brother Zach…

Pierce is always wanting to hang around his big brothers, and it seems that Zach is usually the ones that is downstairs playing with him. Zach and Clayton have been “wake boarding” on our trampoline. I is too funny, they took the wheels off a old skateboard and tied it to their shoes. I am afraid they are going to break their legs, but I have to remind myself that I am a Mommy to boys! The boys are getting plenty of use of the trampoline before we have to get rid of it!

The hail storm of 2012…

The big hail storm of 2012!! Well April 3, 2012 we knew there was going to be some storms coming threw DFW but we all had no idea it was going to be so bad. There were 11 tornadoes that touched down and a ton of damage to homes and cars. And my work parking lot was no different! We were told to evacuate and go into a safe place, so I hide inside the women’s locker room in our gym. If I was going to be stuck somewhere, you better be sure I was going to have a bathroom, towels, a radio, and a fan! It was not as scary as I thought it would have been.. the hardest part was not being able to get through to anyone on the phone. I had texted Zach and Alex and they were still in class, luckily Keller did not get hit. I called Mrs. Ann’s house to check on Pierce and she said all the kids were napping, and no signs of storms.

So after 2 hail storms had passed we all went outside to asess the damage. Most of the cars in our parking lot had huge holes through the back windshields, and of course tons of hail damage. As I approached my car, it seemed to all be in tact.. lots of hail damage of course and then my sun roof was broken. Compared to some of the other cars in the parking lot, mine didn’t seem so bad!

Well a week later USAA came out to appraise the car and within 2 minutes of being at the house he said, “your car is totaled”. I did not have much time to process all of this since we were getting ready to leave for a wedding. He said the hail damage alone was over $10,000 plus the water damage that was done inside the car. Well at that point we had 7 days to find a new car until my rental car was due back. Since I was about $6K from paying off the Accord and only having one car payment, I was a little upset. I did not want to start over! Well everythign happens for a reason, and this storm for me ended up being a blessing. We got the money back from the insurance company and decided to buy a older car and pay cash for it, we also decided to trade in the Tahoe (since we pay over $100 in gas) and get another 4 dorr sedan. After many hours of searching, shopping, and looking at CarFax.. we found my car!

We went to Park Place Lexus, and Hasan not only sold us one car, but ended up selling us 2 cars! As we were signing the papers on my car, there was an elderly couple sitting next to us buying a newer car. We saw teh car they were trading in and inquired about it. It is a 2002 Lexus ES 300 with 70K miles! That is about 7,ooo miles per year put on that car! It was in mint condition and had been taken care of! So Jake bought it, and we bought the same car but a newer addition for me! We love our new cars and we LOVE only having 1 car payment, and we LOVE not having to spend over $100 to fill a tank of gas!

Our new favorite past-time.. riding on Daddy like a horsey! He sure does love his Daddy!!! It also rained the other day so instead of being able to play oputside we opened up some presents from his birthday and played in the Elmo tent! He loves the tent and tunnel and puts all his Toy Story toys in there. Pierce is obsessed with Woody, Buzz, and Jessie. He comes home everyday after school and asks to watch Toy Story. He will let you know if he wants to watch the 1st one or Toy Story 2. Pierce has also been playing iwth his bubbles outside all the time, and been a huge help with Maren wehn the Dukes come over. He loves to share his toys with her and help to feed her! One day he will make a great husband

Easter Egg Hunt 2012…

Easter this year was very low key, which is a rare around our house for ANYTHING to be lowkey! The older boys have really given up on Easter and slep until noon, and Pierce is still a little young and does not know what’s going on. My Mom’s church put on a Easter Egg hunt and since she was going to be babysitting Pierce for the day we decided to bring him to the Easter Egg Hunt and help him out. When we arrived, so did the Easter bunnies! He was fasinated unitl he got up close, then he wanted nothing to do with them. He did great and brough back lots of candy… too much candy. Pierce was even trying to eat the chocolate with the wrappers still on them! Thank you Grandma for the memories for Pierce! He had fun with cousin Gavin, and eating all the chocolate!

Golfing with Favorite Aunt Ashley…

While we were away in Austin.. Favorite Aunt Ashley had the pleasure of hanging out with these 3 cool teenagers! Ashley came over and took the boys out to Hooters for dinner and a movie then a lovely afternoon of Sunday golf. The boys had been looking forward to this weekend just as much as we were! Thank you Ashley for taking in all of these boys like your own. Thank you for your time, your patience, and your kind heart. You have a special place in all their hearts and always will. They all admire you, look up to and will listen to you. You are a positive person in their lives and I love you for that. I am sure they are counting down the days until the summer when Jake and I go out of town again so they can spend the weekend with you!

Our Getaway weekend to Austin…

Jake and I had the pleaseure of shooting a wedding in Wimberley, TX. Our dear friend Dori was a bridemaid in her best freidns wedding snas asked us if we would shoot the wedding for them. We accepted without hesitation! Who wouldn’t want a weekend getaway to Austin!! We love getting to shoot at new venues and locaitons anyway. Jake and I headed down to Austin Saturday morning and spent the entire day together! It was a great day, we live such crazy busy lives that a moment away to recharge is a must. When Jake and I arrived we checked into the hotel, put on our running clothes and headed out for a nice 2 mile jog along the lake. The scenery was so much nicer than running through our neighborhood.

For dinner, Jake and I treated ourselves to Salt Lick BBQ! We had been doing the South Beach diet for 2 weeks and have had no carbs or sugars so we loaded up on meat! It was an hour and 45 minute wait but so worth it! After our BBQ we strolled done Congress and had to make a pit stop at the Cupcake trailer (I only ate half, but it was yummy). And of course we had to stop at Jake’s favorite local coffee shop – Jo’s the next morning for coffee and breakfast tacos!

Thanks for the weekend babe, I love getting that alone time together. Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Vail for allowing us to be apart of your big day!

Alex’s Track meet at Keller High School…

We feel like such bad parents.. this was the first track meet that we were able to attend (and it was the 3rd to last one). Track season has been a little different and the schools are so far away, adn they are like 12 hours long. Well this track meet was at Keller HS so there were excuses not to be there! Alex ran the 3200 (8 laps around the track), and did fantastic! He ran it in about 12:16. That is a pretty fast mile! Alex is not sure if he will run track next year.. he just wants to stick with Cross County. He has done so well though as a Freshman and being new to the sport. Congrats on a great season Alex! We are proud of you for not complaing, not giving up, and giving everything you have for yourself, your team and your school.

On the road to recovery…

This boy LOVES to color!! He was recouping from this previous night of the flu and wanted to color and drink his Gatorade from “his” Starbucks cup. Jake and I had a photo session so Pierce was going to spend the day at Nanny and Papa’s and was super excited. He even went into the other room and got his shoes to put them on to go to Papa’s house..

He did not even want to change out of his pj’s.. he just wanted to leave right then and there to go to Papa’s house…

He was on such a color kick, that he even wanted to color in the bathtub!!

ANGRY BABY!!!

Pierce had not eaten in 24 hours since he had been sick and the only thing he wanted to eat the next morning was “Do-nans” AKA – Donuts! So Pierce and I took a nice stroll to the donut shop and he got his “Do-nans”. That sure did make him happy!

Double Ear Infection & the Flu…

A normal Friday morning.. well so we thought! I tried to drop Pierce off at daycare and by the time we got there his cheeks were flush and he had a fever of 101. I put him back int he car, and turned around and waited for Jake to get home from the station. I guess with fever it comes and goes and when he has his high points you would have never known he was sick. I took Pierce to Dr. Hunt’s office later that afternoon to find out that not only does Pierce have a double ear infection, but he also had the flu!!!! Poor little baby! He was not running a fever at the doctor, so I thought we would get his antibiotics in him and her would be better… but that was just wishful thinking. Jake was at a bridal session all evening so I was home with all 3 boys by myself. The evening turned south pretty quick and we had a 103 fever and were stripped down to our diaper. Pierce did not want to be put down, so he slept on my chest the entire night. Pierce ended up getting sick all over me and would not let me put him down, so I let him lay on my chest with 2 towels over both my shoulders to cover the vomit. These are special Mommy moments that define us all!!! After his fever broke and Daddy came home he acted like nothing was ever wrong and wanted to color all night with Daddy. Having a sick little one is never fun, but we are pretty blessed and don’t have these moments often – thank the Lord!

Yea Daddy is home and no more fever…
